Directions

From the parish church in St. Jakob im Rosental the PIlgerweg leads westwards via the village of Töschling to St. Peter. Passing the church of St. Peter, you reach a wayside shrine, where you turn left to the B85 main road. Cross the main road to the west and turn onto a dirt road at a power pole in the direction of St. Johann. Soon after you cross the village road of Goritschach and follow a gravel path through a farm to St. Johann and on to Raun. At the crossroads after Raun, keep to the left, go along the Mittagskogelstraße under the highway and a little later in Pirk turn right into the Humweg. Following this and a forest road, you pass the Filialkirche St. Christof am Hum and then keep left at a crossroads and continue to St. Martiner Straße. Here you turn right into the street and after about 150 m you reach some hiking trail signs. Follow the signs to the left (yellow sign), walk along a forest path (Attention! The path is sometimes overgrown!) and then along the bike path to the church of Petschnitzen (St. Jakob im Rosental - Petschnitzen: approx. 10.5 km). Now the pilgrimage trail leads under the church along the Panoramaweg to Taborstraße. Here you turn left and go down to the Hotel Sonnblick. At the hotel, turn right uphill and follow a forest path to the branch church in Egg am Faaker See (Petschnitzen - Egg am Faaker See: approx. 3 km). Keep to the west, cross the Egg lakeside road, turn into the Marterlweg and hike to the so-called Egger Marterl (lookout point). At this fork in the road, keep left and walk along the Drobollach lakeside promenade to Kohlstattstraße, where you turn left. After only 100 m you leave the road to the right and walk along the southern slope promenade and further along a wide forest path, past the Josefikreuz, until you reach the B 84, Faakersee Straße, after about 3 km shortly before Maria Gail. Follow this road downhill to the left and after a few minutes turn left again into Anton-Tuder-Straße, which leads through the middle of Maria Gail to the B 84. (Egg am Faakersee - Maria Gail: approx. 6.5 km). Here you turn left onto the main road, cross the Gail bridge, and then turn left onto the footpath and walk under the main road along Technologieparkstraße into Villach. At the red bridge, cross the Drava River and then keep left and follow the course of the Drau promenade. When you reach the Kreuzkirche church, turn left onto the Drau riverbank, then walk 50 m to the right through the park to Gerbergasse and finally reach the parish church of St. Jakob in Villach via Hausergasse and Khevenhüllerstraße (Maria Gail - Villach St. Jakob: approx. 6 km).
