Thomas Girbl presents his work in his newly opened gallery burningpictures – a testament to his creative engagement with the elemental forces of nature. In doing so, he reflects a deep connection to the principles of transformation and new creation, which emerge through innovative techniques and a unique artistic approach. His works transcend traditional boundaries, challenge the viewers, and invite deep reflection on the transience and simultaneous infinity of the moment.

In the gallery burningpictures, Girbl not only offers space for his own works but also creates a platform for dialogues and personal encounters with art enthusiasts.

Born in Salzburg in 1970, Thomas Girbl initially worked as an engraver in Austria and Germany. In 1994, he completed his master’s examination in Innsbruck and then studied the nuances of printmaking with Prof. Alesa Vaic in Prague and painting and figure drawing with Prof. Günther Meck in Millstatt and Mannheim.
During his study stay in Australia from 1997 to 1998, Girbl found his own painting technique, inspired by the destructive beauty and regenerative power of bushfires, by integrating the element of fire into his creative process. This was followed by exhibitions and collaborations in the United Arab Emirates, Düsseldorf, Vienna, Paris, and Zurich. Since 1998, Girbl has worked as a freelance artist by Lake Faak in Carinthia.
