A new house for Carinthia 143 years after its foundation stone was laid, the kärnten.museum in Klagenfurt's Museumgasse completely reopened in late autumn 2022. In the course of its general renovation, both architecturally and in terms of content, no stone has been left unturned.
The vision: a new house for Carinthia, a Carinthian universal museum that transforms itself and has change itself as its new content. The transformation of living spaces, the archaeology of transformation, the change of ideas provide the guideline, which the new kärnten.museum also takes up in the form of its contents and mediation focus: a house of encounter, education, conversation and confrontation.
