Through the hinterland by road bike around Lake Wörthersee

This tour shows that it is also possible to cycle around Lake Wörthersee away from the main roads. The altitude gain is not neglected either (approx. 1,100 meters of altitude gain over a distance of 75 km). Away from the hustle and bustle, you will experience the other sides of the region, tranquility and a lot of untouched nature, such as the Keutschacher Seental, Moosburg, the Forstsee or Köstenberg.

MY TIP FOR LAKE WÖRTHERSEE

The best view is from the water - that's why my family surprised me with a stand up paddle (SUP) this year. At some point I once read this should be a full body workout 😉 well never mind - it's just fun, you find great places to "chill" and discover the entire Wörthersee from the water...and if Harry G. makes fun of it with his post "are you already swimming or SUPing?" makes fun of it, I stick to it:

Dog on the SUP and off we go... 😉

have fun!

A good day starts with a good breakfast!

And the Wörthersee region has so many wonderful places for it. Many hotels and guesthouses directly on the lake offer fantastic breakfast options even for non-guests. But sometimes I also take a snack pack from the bakery I trust and go out into nature, e.g. to the Gloriette, the Hoher Gallin or the Pirkerkogel and enjoy the view and the peace and quiet there. After a walk, the sugar rinky-dink tastes even better 😉

A perfect day...

... starts for me with a run at the lake. In summer it is the wonderful smell of the lake in my nose and in the cooler season it is the rustling of the leaves that literally "ground" me more with every step.

No matter which route you choose - the colorful mixed forests always offer an enchanting view of the turquoise blue Wörthersee or one of the other idyllic lakes (e.g.: Rauschelesee or Bassgeigensee) in our region. And the best: The well-deserved jump into the cool water - simply wonderful!

Are you looking for a cool running route? Then click on the button below and enter "Wörthersee" in the search field and filter the result with "jogging" - et voila!

TIP: FIND RELAXATION ON THE SLOWTRAIL ROMAN GORGE

If you need a bit of rest and relaxation, the hike around the Saiser Lake is the right choice for me. It's beautiful in every season, in spring when it's all blooming, in summer you can also jump in and cool off and in autumn the colorful leaves are fabulous. But the hike is not only suitable for me alone, but also for my children, because it is not very long and difficult. If they are good, they may then of course also with :)

Family-friendly excursion destinations around Lake Wörthersee

My son and I love to explore the many family-friendly destinations around Lake Wörthersee, whether it's feeding the deer at Rosegg Zoo, exploring fairy tales in the Enchanted Forest at Rauschelesee, or taking a walk around the world at Minimundus. We have a lot of fun and always look forward to a dip in Lake Wörthersee afterwards. Another little tip: If you want to see the Wörthersee from a bird's eye view, then climb up the highest wooden tower in the world - the Pyramidenkogel!
