Mali Schachmuseum & Frida Café

The project Mali Chess Museum in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee consists of four projects.

On 1000 square meters, we combine a chess museum, a chess café, a chess education room, and a souvenir shop.

In Europe's largest chess museum, a total of 3200 chess sets from about 130 countries can be viewed. These include roughly equal proportions of classic and unique chess sets (one-of-a-kind), as well as chess robots, chess tables, chess clocks, and chess books.
The chess sets are made from various materials, such as wood, glass, porcelain, ceramics, gold, ivory, and metal.

The museum is designed according to the 7 continents and is divided into thematic rooms: Africa, Asia, the Soviet Union, America, Chamber of Secrets, Europe, Children's World, and Chess Robots, making it interesting for everyone, not just chess enthusiasts. The rooms contain not only the chess pieces and boards but also reflect the atmosphere, art, and cultural treasures of the respective continent.

The museum is not just for chess experts but for the general public; it offers a place for chess education and serves as a new center for local chess teams and chess players.
