Over 2000 years of history shape the cathedral: This late Gothic pilgrimage and abbey church was the starting point for the second Christianization of Carinthia in the 8th century. The burial site of the Irish monk Bishop Modestus, the world-famous Roman stone reliefs on the facade, unique frescoes, Gothic carvings, and the special Baroque organ invite visitors. After a devastating fire in 1669, the church received its current appearance. In the north tower hangs Carinthia's largest church bell. Since 2018, a contemporary Stations of the Cross can be admired.
